What’s been going on with Cally’s Creations?

Hi all!

I haven’t posted as regularly as I should, but I do find it hard juggling my blog along with Facebook, twitter, tumblr and Etsy. I hope that this will be changing now that I am attending Wolverhampton Uni to do Art and Design. My life is full of Art right now, so there’s rarely a time when I am not creating something new.

In my foundation year we have been asked to create an art journal through out the year. I have decided to dedicate myself to this, and to never rip a page out. Ever! This has been difficult for me in the past as although my artwork does get a lot of positive comments, like most artists I always feel like I can do better/ or that it isn’t good enough. I am not doing this any more. The one thing I have learnt while being at Uni is that you have to keep your progress. Even if you’re not a fan of what you have done, it’ll become useful to you one way or another in the future.

I have only been at Uni for a couple of weeks but already I have learnt a lot. I can’t wait to adapt the skills I am learning into Cally’s Creations. There’s a lot of places where my business needs to be polished up, and I am looking forward to making those changes and giving it everything I can.

I will be posting regular updates on my art journalling and progression as an artist, so stay tuned!

Getting Back into my Blog!

Hi all!

Recently I have been doing lots of art but unfortunately haven’t been using my blog. This is about to change! I am so glad to be getting back into my art and I am looking forward to posting regular blog posts on my new ideas/illustrations and artworks!

Here’s a couple of pieces I have been working on the last couple of months:

magical midnight meeting, painted on a large thin canvas

fairy floral bliss, painted on an upcycled wooden wall hanging

There are plenty more that you can see, which are available to purchase in my etsy store here.

My latest creations! ~

Hey everyone! Lately I have been working a lot on my artwork. Unfortunately I have been off work due to sever back pain, so I have been using my artwork to take my mind off the pain and create some new work! It can be very difficult taking my mind off the pain and how bad it can really get, and I don’t know what I would do without my artwork.

Here’s my new paintings for the new year ~ they are all available to buy on etsy, just simply click the photo to go to my shop! 🙂

New Listing on Etsy; A Mother and Daughter’s Love

A new painting called ‘A Mother and Daughter’s Love’ is now available in my Etsy shop. It is perfect gift for Mothers, not just for Mother’s Day!

The Flowers Talk at Night; Art of the Week

For Art of the Week this week I have chosen a sold painting ‘The Flowers Talk at Night.’ It is 12×12 inches and painted on canvas. This particular painting was not textured with paper, only the flowers were textured using modelling paste.

I had not had this painting a week before it was snapped up and sold for a present for Christmas. I was glad that people saw my artwork good enough to give as gifts, and the person who received the painting was very happy with it!

It was a different design and style that I had tried just before the New Year and many people on my Facebook page loved it . I also sold a similar piece through ArtGallery.co.uk that I did in the same week! It’s a technique and style I hope to improve and use for future paintings to come. I have a couple called Midnight Blooms and Pretty Pink Haze that are similar.

My first sales on Etsy!

Today I made my first two sales on Etsy! I was so happy. I have been on Etsy since January 2011 but never really got the hang of promoting my shop and using social media to gain views and potential sales. For just two weeks now I have been trying my very hardest to change this, listed many more of my creations and after making two sales today I am pretty sure I am one step closer to promoting correctly!

These are the items I sold:

Teal Cat Bookmark – hand painted and hand made with textured card and decorative ribbon

Pack of 8 original Cally’s Creations mixed media postcards

I hope this is the beginning of many sales to come!

Today I was invited to Pinterest by a very nice member of one of my Etsy teams. I’m still getting the hang of it but from what I’ve seen it seems like a very simple and interesting way of finding amazing new items, as well as promoting your own.

Alien and Fairy friends meeting in the garden…. original canvas painting.

This is my newest painting Alien and Fairy friends meeting in the garden. I have textured a 12×12 inch canvas board with ripped paper, card and flower stencils and painted in acrylic, emulsion and watercolour paints. I based this painting on a doodle illustration I did a while back…

If you are interested in purchasing this painting, then please visit my Etsy shop here.
