Painting Process – stop motion animation

Today I had a go at under the camera stop motion animation creating a piece of artwork. It was meant to be for my final piece in Animation at Uni, but I think I will count this one as a practice and have another go next week. Hope you enjoy!

Getting Back into my Blog!

Hi all!

Recently I have been doing lots of art but unfortunately haven’t been using my blog. This is about to change! I am so glad to be getting back into my art and I am looking forward to posting regular blog posts on my new ideas/illustrations and artworks!

Here’s a couple of pieces I have been working on the last couple of months:

magical midnight meeting, painted on a large thin canvas

fairy floral bliss, painted on an upcycled wooden wall hanging

There are plenty more that you can see, which are available to purchase in my etsy store here.

3D Paper Flowers for Crafts ~ Coming soon to my Etsy shop!

Hi everyone!

I have been busy creating 3D paper flowers for the use of scrap booking, card making and general crafts! I thought it would be a good idea to sell my paper flowers for others to use rather than always creating pieces with them on myself.
These 3D paper flowers have been made with paper and card of all colours and patterns, and have been handpainted by me. All flowers have been coated in a thick glittery paint which makes them glimmer and harden to make them more secure.

I use my 3D paper flowers for various crafts. Card making, creating artwork on canvases, making magnets and present labels, but I am sure there’s hundreds of ways you can use them to brighten up anything! All you need to do is secure them down with a strong glue, or a 3D foam pad. Alternatively you can open up the flower and use the split pin! Simple 🙂

Here’s some pictures of Paper flowers which will be available in my Etsy shop soon:

My latest creations! ~

Hey everyone! Lately I have been working a lot on my artwork. Unfortunately I have been off work due to sever back pain, so I have been using my artwork to take my mind off the pain and create some new work! It can be very difficult taking my mind off the pain and how bad it can really get, and I don’t know what I would do without my artwork.

Here’s my new paintings for the new year ~ they are all available to buy on etsy, just simply click the photo to go to my shop! 🙂

Happy New Year….! I know it’s a bit late….

I am a month late with this ‘Happy New Year’ blog post, but since I haven’t actually posted anything in about 6 months (probably more) I thought I’d let myself off with it!

I have had an interesting few months, there’s been plenty of ups and tons of downs, but me and Jamie are finally getting ourselves back to normality in our new place. In the past 9 months I have moved house 3 times and had 2 new jobs, not to mention some pretty difficult situations in general, including very recently developing severe back pain. Me and Jamie have stuck together through out though, and come out stronger than ever.

Because of all these changes and stresses, I have been unable to focus on my artwork, which resulted in a creative block that I have really struggled to get out of. I miss being able to sit at my own art space and create something fresh and new, so I have decided to dedicate this year to get back on track, set up a new art space and get stuck in with some new paintings!

Although I have attracted a lot of followers online, I would love to be able to do more Craft fairs this year. Jamie passed his test last year and I intend to take advantage of the easy transport to do some craft fairs over the Spring and Summer in the local area!

I have missed interacting with my fans, and seeing all the amazing artwork you all create too, so I am looking forward to getting re-united and involved!

~ Latest Paintings ~

I have been very busy today! After my long stretch of creative block I finally think I am getting out of it. I have painted a 16×16 inch canvas board that I textured a long, long time ago, and 2 9×11 inch thin canvases.

These two are textured with modelling paste and painted in acrylic and emulsion paints. All they need is a varnish and they’re finished! I have called them Twilight Blooms.

This is the painting I did on the canvas board (well, most of it!) I have painted two fairies in a flower garden. I am not yet sure what to call this piece.

They will be available to buy within the next couple of days! Now my mind has had a rest I hope to create a lot more pieces in the near future!

I’ll eat your heart

Found this painting I did a couple of months ago today while I was sorting out my art stuff. I’ve named it ‘I’ll eat your heart.’ I’ll be putting it up for sale on my Etsy soon, and I might do a similar bigger version when my art flare comes back!

Art Progress; Creative People are not meant to be Tidy!

A recent conversation inspired me to create this mixed media piece on 30x40cm canvas. I have ripped up paper and card and textured in layers on the canvas. I then printed off some words ‘Creative people are not meant to be tidy!’ and pasted them onto the canvas, too.

I then added some of my paper flowers to make the mixed media more 3D and alive! Then I started painting!

I enhanced the words and flowers with black acrylic to give the painting more detail!

This piece of artwork will be available for sale in the next couple of days on my Etsy shop! Don’t forget, you can buy directly off me, just go onto my facebook page and message me!

Isabel Adonis; Artist of the Week

Tall Terraced Houses 2, by Isabel Adonis

Isabel Adonis creates beautiful and colourful original works of collaged art. I would describe Isabel’s work as vibrant, unusual, and whimsical, and like many of my other favourite artists, never fails to make me smile whenever I see a new piece. She has been successfully selling  her artwork for about 3 years, and it is all *very* reasonably priced for the effort she puts in and the amazing creation you get in return!

The reason I love Isabel’s artwork so much is that it reminds me so much of my own, yet it is so different. I think the way in which we think about our creations can be very similar at times, and it’s nice to have that connection with a fellow artist. We’re similar in a way in which we love to paint women, girls, flowers and houses ~ loads of things that are based around our first passions, our home life and the different feelings and vibes surrounding that.

Painting Progress of the day!

We didn’t get up until after 12pm today! My aim was to clean the house, put the dinner on by 12 so I could spend all day in the art room painting… but plans never go as they’re meant to in this house! I skipped the housework (and the dinner prep… !) and started painting instead.

Painting in progress

I textured this canvas last night and started painting today. It is a painting of a Mother and her daughter. The daughter is wearing a patchwork dress and holding some balloons, and lovely flowers for her mom for Mother’s Day (see below.) I have since gone over the flowers in black and signed it, so all I need to do now is varnish it and it’s done!

Nearly finished!

I have also been working on these paper flower mixed media paintings. I have textured the 5×7 inch canvas boards with ripped paper and card, and made a flower paper using layers of musical note paper, Shakespearean paper and lined paper and attached them together, then painted on them and stuck them to the board. I hope to also make some magnets and greetings cards like these!

Mixed media canvas board paintings, paper flowers.

These will be available in my Etsy shop tomorrow!
